Fast and Easy Dog Treats

If you are one of the many dog owner's who like to spoil their pooch, you should try making homemade dog treats. Here are some fast and easy dog treats to make:

The Working Alpha's Doggie Biscuits

Ingredients:

¾ C. Wheat germ
¾ C. powdered milk
1 Egg
1 Jar baby food (beef, chicken, or turkey)

In a small mixing bowl, mix all the ingredients well. Spray the cookie sheet and place teaspoon portions of the mixture on the cookie sheet. Bake the biscuits at 250 degrees for 20 minutes. Allow them to cool, and store them in the fridge.

The Bad Breath Banishers

2 C. Brown rice flour
1 T. activated charcoal (found at a drugstore)
3 T. Canola oil
1 Egg
½ C. Chopped fresh mint
½ C. Chopped fresh parsley
2/3 C. Lowfat milk

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly oil and flour a cookie sheet. Combine flour and charcoal. Combine all the other ingredients until through ally blended. Drop teaspoonfuls onto oiled cookie sheet about one inch apart. Bake 15 to 20 minutes. Allow them to cool and store in airtight container in the fridge.

Milk Bone Dog Biscuits

Ingredients:

¾ C. Hot water
1/3 C. Margarine
½ C. Powdered Milk
1 Tsp. Salt
1 Egg, beaten
3 C. whole wheat flour

Using a large mixing bowl; combine margarine and hot water. Stir in powdered milk, salt, and egg. Add flour, ½ C at a time. Knead the dough for a few minutes until stiff. Roll dough out until it is ½ inch thick. Cut dough into bone shapes. Bake at 325 degrees for 50 minutes. Allow bones to cool. This recipe yields about 1 ¼ pounds of bones.

Apple Crunch Pupcakes

Ingredients:

2 ¾ C. Water
¼ C. Unsweetened Applesauce
¼ tsp. Vanilla
4 C. Whole Wheat Flour
1 C. Dried Apple Chips
1 T. Baking Powder
1 Egg, beaten
4 T. honey

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and spray the muffin tin with cooling spray. Combine all wet ingredients and mix through ally. In a separate bowl, combine all the dry ingredients and mix. Slowly add the wet mixture into the dry mixture and make sure no dry mixture is left in the bowl. Pour mixture into oven tins and bake for 1 - 1 ½ hours or until a toothpick inserted into the center of muffin comes out dry. Store pupcakes in a sealed container. This recipe yields 12-14 pupcakes.

Easy Cheese Treats

Ingredients:

¾ C. Cheddar Cheese, grated and at room temperature
1 Stick Margarine
1 ½ C. Whole Wheat Flour

Cream cheese with margarine and flour, form two logs that are about 2 inches in diameter. Place logs in refrigerator until firm. Cut log into ¼ inch slices and place on a greased baking sheet. Bake treats at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until treats are slightly brown and firm.

If your dog eats dry dog food, but you wish they were a faster eater, try making the Chicken Gravy to go over the dry dog food. Here is the recipe for Chicken Gravy:

Chicken Gravy

Ingredients:

1 large chicken breast (boneless and skinless)
4 C. Water
1 C. flour
2 Eggs, beaten

Boil the chicken breast for 30 minutes and allow it to cool. Add flour and whisk it until the lumps are gone. Add the eggs and whisk it on low heat until it thickens. Pulverize in blender and store in refrigerator.

There are many other fast and easy dog treats that you can create. Just be careful about adding harmful ingredients into dog treats. You should never add sugar to a dog treat because it can damage their teeth and they really don't need it either!
