How To Enter Your Dog in the World's Ugliest Dog Contest

There are many ugly dog contests around the world. Some require full bred "ugly dogs and others do not. Not all ugly dog contests require the "ugly contestant to be present. There are several online contests which require only a picture of the "ugly dog along with a small amount of information. Quite often the winner of the online ugly dog contest is chosen by the public. Pictures are posted online of the ugly dog contestants and then the public is able to vote on which dog they think is the ugliest. There are several online ugly dog contests held at different times throughout the year and sponsored by a variety of different websites.

One of the websites featuring an ugly dog contest is www.ugliestdog.net. Entering your ugly dog in this contest is fairly simple. You will need to send in a picture, along with some information about your dog. Send only information that you want posted, such as what your dog likes or dislikes or a funny story, something of that nature. You will need to include your dog's name, city and state. You will need to provide an address to ship prizes to, in case your dog is crowned the ugliest dog. This information is kept confidential. Keep in mind the picture sent in of your ugly dog will be posted online for thousands to see. Use the Internet to research other websites that are sponsoring ugly dog contests. Contact your local humane society or check online to see if there are any ugly dog contests being held in your area.

Many times the winner in these ugly dog contests is a breed of dog known as Chinese Crested. There are two types, the hairless with hair plumes only on the head, tail and feet, and the Powderpuff which is completely covered with hair. The hairless Chinese Crested dog is quite often the winner of ugly dog contests. This breed of dog is small, weighing five to ten pounds, and nine to thirteen inches in height. One of the best known hairless Chinese Crested dogs would have to be Sam. Sam was the winner of the world's ugliest dog contest three years in a row. Sam died at the ripe old age of fourteen, which is a long life considering this breed has life span of only ten to fourteen years.

Another breed of dog that is frequently considered ugly is the Pug dog. The Pug has a flat, wrinkled face, compact body, and curled tail. As a result of their short, flattened nose, Pugs often develop breathing problems, which causes them to make grunting nasal noises. These noises increase when they are excited. Their flat face may also contribute to tooth and mouth problems. This breed generally stands between ten and eleven inches tall and weighs between fourteen and eighteen pounds.

The Bull Mastiff is another breed that may be considered an ugly dog. Unlike the Chinese Crested and Pug dogs, the Bull Mastiff is quite large. This breed of dog generally stands twenty-five to twenty-seven inches in height and weighs between 110 to 130 pounds. This breed of dog is known for it's non-stop drooling. Many Bull Mastiff owners keep a slobber rag handy at all times.

Shar-pei is another breed that some consider to be an ugly dog. This breed of dog is widely recognized for its wrinkles. The Shar-pei breed is described as a medium size dog, with loose wrinkly skin, small ears, and a hippopotamus shaped muzzle.

No matter what breed of dog you have, whether it is a full bred or a mutt dog, if your dog is ugly he may be the world's ugliest dog. So, decide what contest you want to enter, submit a picture, and whatever other things the contest requires, and enjoy!
