Nighttime Barking

What goes through your tired mind when you hear dogs barking at night and even worse, when this goes on every night? There's really nothing enjoyable about being awakened from a nice sleep by the sound of a barking dog. It doesn't matter whether it's your own dog or you neighbor's dog. It's simply irritating! When the barking happens every night, then you very well know that some drastic measures need to be done as soon as possible. Taking care of the barking dog soon will only help maintain your relationship with your neighbor.

You certainly don't want to start a fight with your neighbor because of the dog, so the best solution is to try to find ways to reduce the annoying and excessive night barking to a complete stop! Probably, the fist step to take is to find out the reasons of the dreadful on and off barking throughout the night. An excessive barking dog is a sign that something is wrong. Finding the cause of the barking at night can tremendously help you solve your sleep dilemma right away.

Unfortunately, more often than not, it takes time, effort and a lot of patience to solve the barking dog issue. A barking dog during the night may be an indication that he's not happy outside. If it is possible, bring the dog inside at night, whether into the garage or somewhere in the home. This can help reduce the barking nuisance. Sometimes leaving the light on in the room where the dog is spending the night can help reduce the barking at night as well.

Some dogs, especially little ones, are very sensitive to every little sound they hear. Whether it's a bird flying by or the wind blowing from one side to another, sensitive dogs will not know the difference and will bark. They will bark at the garbage truck passing by and most always at every human body that walks by his yard. Every night loving animals in the backyard like the crickets may get the dog to bark. Sometimes, loneliness is one of the biggest reasons for a dog to bark at night.

When everything is so quiet at night, a bark here and there will definitely not go undetected. The sounds of the awful annoying barking dog are much easier to hear at night than in the daytime. How do you keep a dog from barking at night?

Try to leave something outside to occupy your dog's mind such as a chew toy, his favorite meal dish and make sure that he has enough fresh water. Don't leave the dog outside when the temperature is too hot or too cold. This is something that will trigger the dog to bark at night. The dog is just like a human being. They like comfort and company. So, before you decide to get a dog, think of the responsibilities of keeping the dog content, comfortable and trained. It's not easy to have a dog and hope that everything will be alright. There are a great number of people who cannot stand barking dogs and most definitely not during the nighttime. You need to care about your neighbors' feelings before you let your dog bark all night without anticipating doing something about it. Make sure that your dog gets plenty of exercise during the day but especially at night so you can tire him out so he will sleep during the night. Be respectful to others. Dogs should really not be allowed to bark at night.
