Two Small Breed Dogs

Small dogs are so fun to have around the house. They are little and bursting with energy. Many of the little dogs out there think they are big dogs and can get themselves into some funny situations. People love the little dog breeds because of the amount of space they need to run and play is much smaller then that of a large dog breed. They are easier to handle when they are trained, but they tend to be a little harder to train when compared to larger dogs. Knowing what the small dog breeds have to offer before buying a pet could surprise you in that many of them have characteristics and personality traits that you want but didn't know they had.

The Jack Russell Terrier is a small breed dog that was bred to chase foxes and to be small enough to burrow down into the tunnels that animals make. The cool thing about this little dog is that it is incredibly smart. They learn so quickly and easily that when large dog trainers switch to small dogs, they are blown away at how bright and fun these little dogs are. You can see Jack Russell Terriers in movies, commercials, and television for just that reason. They also have funny personality traits that make them loveable. Everyone remembers the funny little dog named Milo in the movie "The Mask starring Jim Carry. These dogs have also been reported to having a conscience that tips owners off when the dog has done something wrong. One dog in particular had been trained to never poop in the house and that it was never to go downstairs. When the owner got home, the dog saw her face and ran to the corner and hid its face from hers. The dog started to shake and yelp when she came over to him. "Did you do something bad? She walked downstairs and quickly found the poop on the carpet. Before getting too angry, she realized that this little dog knew it had done a bad thing and was scared. She went up and took the dog in her arms and giggled a little to herself because of the honesty she had just seen. She quickly realized, too, that the doggy door had been blocked off by a box someone had set by the door. The dog was quickly forgiven.

The Miniature Poodle, or more commonly known as a Toy Poodle is another popular small dog breed. These little dogs are feisty and have strong attitudes that many people find intriguing. This is a little dog that struts and thinks that it is the size of a big dog. These dogs are known for playing rough and getting dirty. Their unique coat of curly hair is usually solid colors, such as white or black, and people have fun growing the hair out and cutting it into interesting styles. These dogs make good show dogs because they are capable of being well trained and can look great when groomed and clipped. People love the Toy Poodle because there is a puppy personality trait that never seems to go away even when they are fully grown. They maintain a playful spirit that when matched with their size makes it feel like you always have a little puppy around.

There are hundreds of small dog breeds that people love. Think about what you want in a dog and then read about them. The dog for you will stick out and will become an obvious choice for you to make. Small dog breeds are fun and make great pets for families with small children.
